Margaret "Peggy" Catherine Mary Keenan nee Breen was born to John Joseph (immigrant/Ireland) and Mary Catherine Veronica Murphy (1st generation) in Southwest Philadelphia and Most Blessed Sacrament (MBS) Parish. Peggy was the youngest of three children; she had an older brother John (Jack)Patrick and an older sister, Mary Beschen. Peggy had ten children, five boys and five girls, her first boy died shortly after birth. Barbara Ann, Patricia May, John Russel,Jr., Kevin Joseph, Margaret Mary, Mary Rebecca, Paul Keith, Daniel Bryan and Helen Elizabeth. I believe Peggy would have pointed to the rearing of her nine children as her greatest accomplishment. She and John "Russell" Keenan met as young teenagers and were married at Transfiguration Parish as young adults. Peggy began working after her fifth child was born and continued until her death in 1984. Obviously, she liked babies and children, she enjoyed her children and their life adventures. She became a widow in 1965 when her husband, Russel, died from complications of Tuberculosis. She was left with five minor children to raise with the help of her older children. She passed away on a Friday in her sleep. She was survived by her nine children, fourteen Grandchildren and two great Grandchildren. She was a warm charismatic individual, loved by many and missed by all who knew her.
