Jesse A. Bowman, 86, Louisville, a native of Tompkinsville, died April 18, 2005, at his home. He was a retired foreman with Louisville Bedding Co., where he had worked for 35 years; a member of the Beechwood Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher; and an Army veteran of World War II. He also was a former volunteer with the United Crescent Hill Ministries and honorary member of the Bells and Bows Square Dance Club. He was the husband of Thelma (Bryant) Bowman, who survives. Other than his wife, survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and James G. Revels, Jr.; two sisters, Ruby Simpson, Richmond, Va., and Vernelle Sorrels, Ft. Wright; two grandchildren, Jessica Ann and James G. Revels, III; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. (EDT) at the Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home on Westport Road at Herr Lene in Louisville. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the Beechwood Baptist Church, with burial at the Louisville Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Beechwood Baptist Church, 201 Biltmore Rd., Louisville, Ky.
