Joey S. Smith, age 33, of Sandersville, died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Medical Center in Macon.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Lamar Brantley will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Trae Smith, Tyler Smith, David Tanner, Jake McNutt, Abe Kitchens and Tony Taylor. Employees of the Georgia Regents Shared Service Center will sit as an honorary group.

Joey was born in Baldwin County and was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was computer specialist and employed by the Georgia Board of Regents Shared Services as Security Administrator. Joey was an avid gun collector and loved the outdoors with his faithful companion Poppy. He was a member of the Green Street Hunting Club, and in his spare time he often tended to the computer needs of family and friends.

Survivors are: his parents, Joseph Lamar Smith and Carolyn Fennell Smith of Sandersville; siblings, Mike Smith and his wife Paula of Dexter, and Wendy S. Pettit and her husband Jeff of Sandersville; nine nieces and nephews; his aunt, Ruth Dodge of Lilburn; and his uncle James Smith and his wife Mary Esther of Haddock.

The family will be at the Smith residence on Bonnell Circle. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
