Mrs. Esther Lou Albritton Dixon, 87, died Friday afternoon May 1, 2015. A native of Greene County, she was born August 27, 1927, the daughter of Hardy Sugg Albritton and Lucille Hardy Albritton. The widow of Waitman Hines Dixon, they had enjoyed 51 years of marriage at the time of his death 1998. Mrs. Dixon loved the coast of North Carolina and for many years divided her time between her residences in Greene and Carteret counties.


Her surviving family includes her daughter, Elizabeth Dixon Unger and husband, Gary who reside both in Maury, NC and Minnesota; a son, Elbert “Bert” Hardy Dixon, Sr. also of Maury; and grandsons, Elbert Hardy Dixon, Jr., Hunter Caldwell Dixon, and Stanton Hines Dixon, all of Maury as well.


A graveside service will be held 3 PM Monday, May 4, at the Snow Hill Cemetery with Reverend John Grayson and Pastor Scott Hardy officiating.


The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service.
