Robert F. Atkins, age 85, of Adamsville passed away February 22, 2020. Robert was born January 23, 1935. He was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Robert was unendingly proud of Ruth, Larry and Elma and always tried his best to support them. His favorite hobby and pastime was fishing and sitting on the front porch. Robert served in the United States Army for two years after which he began his 34-year career in the printing industry. Robert spent 26 of those years working for, then retiring from, Commercial Printing. He is preceded in death by his father, Ira Timothy Atkins; mother, Lula Elma McGhee Atkins; as well as his 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Robert is survived by his spouse, Ruth R. Shoemate Atkins; son Larry Franklin (Dale) Atkins; daughter, Elma Atkins (Dwayne) Tolbert and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Dora on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. The funeral service will begin at 2pm. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service time. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Adamsville. Bro. Mickey Jones will officiate.
