Martha was the daughter of William Salmon Hapgood and Rebecca Woodsum Mason.

On Dec 10, 1876 in Stratford she married Melvin Young, son of Iretus Young and Nancy Blodgett.

Their children were Clara, Melvin Jr, Edward John, Maude J, Nellie Maria, Fred Walter, Collin Herman, and Pearl Christy.

On Jan 28, 1909 Martha received a divorce for abandonment for three years. On Jan 27th Melvin had already married Rose Adams.

By the 1910 census Martha had married Fred W. Cole. I can not find anything else on him, except that they were listed in the 1910 Northumberland census with no info except "had moved from area".

In two children's marriage records they list their mother Martha as living in Stratford in 1910 and 1918. Martha died in Stratford in 1929, but I can't find Martha & Fred in any census.

Martha was predeceased by young son Melvin (he was only in the 1880 census at 1 month old); daughter Clara (Young) Dexter before 1900; and son Collin in 1918.

She was survived by husband, Fred, and the rest of her children.

Age: 66yrs 5mos 4dys (per death certificate)

Cause of Death: Chronic Nephritis - La Grippe
