Donna Mae Earl Garrelts, 78, of Cozad, died May 1, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born on April 15, 1937, in Overton, the daughter of Doris and Francis Earl.
Donna married Bernard Garrelts on July 21, 1956. To this union five children were born, Kyla, Kathy, Karen, Kevin and Kanda.
Donna was involved in church and 4-H throughout the years. In later years, she was in Extension Club. Donna worked many different jobs including secretary, waitress and checker, and she also helped with the farming.
Her kids and grandkids always came first. She never had an enemy and everyone she met, she would give a smile. While struggling at the end, she would still give us a little smile. She fought a long, hard battle with her illness and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kevin, brother, David; and son-in-law, Mike Huss.
Surviving her are her children, Kyla Huss, Kathy Garrelts, Karen (Steve) Barrett, Kanda (Rodger, Jr.) Earll and Mark (Jamie) Poggendorf, who she claimed as her own son; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Edna Long.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at Church of Christ in Cozad with Pastor James McCrickard officiating. Burial will follow at the Gothenburg Cemetery. Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
