MARILYN LOUISE CHRISMAN Marilyn Louise Chrisman, 82, of Chico passed away April 23, 2015. Marilyn was born on January 30, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA to Ernie and Margaret Benke. Her father worked for the VA, and Marilyn's younger years involved many moves: from Pennsylvania to Washington D.C. to Minnesota to Nebraska to Colorado. She attended and graduated from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, CO with a BA and teaching credential. She met her husband, Joe Chrisman, while in Colorado and married him on June 16, 1957. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage together before Joe's passing in 2012. Marilyn loved teaching children and was a supportive wife, earning her PHT degree, (Putting Hubby Through), in January 1970 when Joe earned his PHD from North Texas University. They moved to Chico, CA in August of 1970 when Joe took a job teaching at CSUC. Marilyn was a Teacher Aide at Chico Junior High School while she lovingly raised their two sons, Mark and Jon. Marilyn was active in church activities at Faith Lutheran Church, CSUC Faculty Wives and was a lifetime member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She loved and encouraged her grandchildren, Sandi and Matthew, in their numerous sports and activities, and was always their greatest cheerleader! Marilyn was a business partner with Joe at Buttons Plus, a family venture they started in their home that grew into a full-time business, where she ran the front counter and handled the bookkeeping for 35 years. Marilyn received tender loving care from the devoted staff at Almond Blossom Assisted Living and enjoyed visits from her Faith Lutheran church family, university friends and business colleagues the last three years of her life. The family is most grateful for all the care and compassion she received. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and is survived by sons Mark, (Leanne) of Chico, CA and Jon of Hinesville, GA, grandchildren Sandi and Matthew of Chico, CA, a sister, Carol (Harry) Morgan of Woodland Hills, CA, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 8 at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or to Faith Lutheran Church in care of Bruisie Funeral Home. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.BrusieFH.com
