Come unto me”, The Lord whisperers to us. “And I will give you rest” If we respond to His loving invitation, allowing His divine wisdom to pierce the heavy sadness that curtains our souls, we will receive the sweet rest and refreshment He has promised. Now He will teach us personally the very core of His message to mankind. Now, when our bereavement has emptied our hearts of all else He will teach us the true meaning of life and the true meaning of suffering and the true meaning of death.

May we pray together?
Our Loving Eternal Heavenly Father, as we meet today to remember Diane our mother our grandmother our dear friend and loved one we ask you to be to us the God of all comfort, and the God of all grace. Give us perspective as we face the reality of death, to grow in our perspective of the truths of life. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN

Song- Sweet hr of Prayer- Doy Cloninger

Though we may remain beyond the reach of human consolation, Jesus, now more than any other time draws near and offers His help. In His infinite love and compassion He yearns to come and abide with us, bringing that understanding and consolation that He alone can bestow at such a time. We need only open wide our grief stricken hearts and welcome Him in.

Diane Duncan Born Oct /26/1936 in Denton, Texas, and passed away on April 17.2015

She is survived by her daughter, Marti and husband, Dave Anderson; two grandchildren, Duncan Samuel and Mallory Michelle Anderson two brothers, John Fred Duncan and wife Reta and Benny Carl Duncan and wife Linda; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceeded in death by her father, Jesse Gibson Duncan (better known as 'Chunk'); her mother, Eliza Francis Duncan (better know as 'Susie'); and her younger sister, Mary Sue Armour.

Eulogy written by Marti Anderson

Diane went to school in Denton and graduated from Denton High School in 1954. She attended a few semesters at North Texas State University. She never finished college because she was involved in a hunting accident. She was accidently shot in the right thigh with a 20-gauge shot gun. The doctors were afraid she would lose her leg or never walk again.
However, they completed underestimated the will and strength of Diane. She not only walked again, but she water skied, played golf, and participated in many other activities. Most people never knew she had been injured so badly.

She worked for a short while at the telephone company in Dallas before she was hired on at General Motors Parts Division as a keypunch operator. She used to carpool from Denton to GM with several other GM employees.
She worked at many different positions within GM and finally retired after 46 years of dedicated service. As Diane called it, 'Generous' Motors. During Marti's college years, she also worked part-time as a grocery checker at Tom Thumb to help with the college expenses.

She made the moves as GM did from Dallas to Everman then on to Roanoke

In about 1998, she moved back to Denton to help out with her mother during the last years of her life. After her mother's death, she moved to Keller so she could be closer to her grandchildren, Duncan and Mallory. She bought an older home and spent a lot of money and time remodling it. She loved this home and her neighbors.

Diane has had many wonderful friends throughout her life and never met a stranger. Some of the friends here today have known Diane for at least 65 years.

She may have only been 4'11", but she thought she was 10 foot tall and bullet proof.

Diane had to face many adversities in her life But she faced the challenges head on and always with an realistic and optimistic view on life. If there was something in life she wanted, she went for it shoving fear aside. And she was not afraid to speak her mind as most of you know.

Things she loved: cooking, working in her yard, being at the lake, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and in her retirement, she loved taking time and reconnecting with old friends.

And her favorite saying: "not to worry."

I first met Diane in about 1977. She had been at GM 20 years when I started.I owe her a great debt of gratitude. Knowing Diane has paid the bills for 38 years now. As a matter of fact still paying about $18 hr for doing nothing. Back in those days you had to know somebody to get a job at GM boy did I know somebody.

Being a friend of Marti’s got me a job at GM thanks to Diane. Keeping the job was up to me. You see most of you know you had a 90 probationary period before you were permanent employee. Well little did I know that my supervisor at that time was not the best of friends with Diane so I had to really step it up to make it. But with the help from a couple of guys that say they saved my job I was able to make my 90 days and a job for life. Those two guys still make me thank them to this day for saving my job.

Thanks Bubba and Howard. ( Still think yall made all that up though) Diane was the timekeeper. She was responsible for getting us paid. Her title was timekeeper but might as well have been the Warehouse manager she kinda ran the warehouse as it seemed. She brought new meaning to Dynamite comes in small packages. I seen her put bigger men than me in their place in a hurry. But she would do anything for you. I been told by others that if your check was short you just had to wait a week to get paid.

Well on several occasions when my pay was shorted she would cut me a special check and thought I was getting special treatment no she did this for us all I have heard.

Except for one time I think she was trying to teach me a lesson I went to her expecting to get a check cut and she shocked me. She said cant you wait a week without getting a check? Well I guess I could. It kind of upset me but she smiled and said just some motherly advice take care of you money matters a little more carefully and then gave me my check.

Some of the things we will miss about Diane that big smile of hers, her laugh, her great love for her family her vibrant personality. So when someone passes away is that it? Will that be the last time we see them? Some say yes they say you just seece to exist. I don’t buy that. If you believe in what the bible teaches as I do you can see your loved ones again in heaven. The bible tells us what happens to a Christian when he or she dies.

1 Thes 4: 13-18- Now dear brothers , I want you to know what happens to a Christian when he dies so that when it happens, you will not be full of sorrow, as those who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and then come back to life again, we can also believe that when Jesus returns God will bring back with him all the Christians who have died. I can tell you this directly from the Lord that we who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet Him ahead of those who are in their graves. For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a mighty shout and the soul- stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet call of God. And the believers who are dead will be the first to rise to meet the Lord. Then we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with Him forever. So comfort and encourage each other with this news.

The bible tells us we can see or loved ones again if we know The Lord.

So I believe the most important thing we can do is make our piece with The Lord today.

Many here today have done that and they are at piece but maybe some here are not at piece only you can know if you are at piece with the Lord.

You see there is nothing we can do ourselves to get to heaven according to Eph. 2:8-9 that tells us for by grace you are saved by faith and not of ourselves it is the gift of God not of works should any man boast.

So don’t wait till your think you are good enough it will never happen. We don’t have to be good enough. That’s why Jesus died on that cross and He is why and how we can make it to heaven and live forever in peace. I earge you today don’t wait any longer to make that choice to follow Christ
So how do we do this?

The bible tells us in Romans 10: 9 confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead and you will be saved.

2 Corintians-1:3 Blessed be The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of mercies and God of all comfort who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. And our hope for you is steadfast because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings so also you will partake of the consolation.

Family and friends I urge you to take advantage of this mercy and comfort God can provide.
Our family and friends can be of some comfort, but God offers the only true comfort. I urge you to draw close to Him today. If you don’t have a close personal relationship with Jesus today please ask Him to comfort you with His saving grace.

We need to make peace with God today. That is the hope we just read about from the bible. We can see our loved ones again. What about you today? Have you made your peace with the Lord? Don’t leave here today without knowing where you will spend eternity.

Amazing Grace- Doy Cloninger

As we conclude our service today we now entrust Diane to God's mercy, we now commit her unto The Lord with certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our frail bodies that they may be conformed to His glorious body, who died, was buried, and rose again for us. To Him be glory forever.

Closing Prayer

Our Father thank you for your great love for us and the glorious hope we have in knowing our loved ones are with you in heaven. Thank you for sharing Diane with us and we thank you for the promise of knowing that we can see her and all our loved ones again that know you. Bless now this dear family with your comfort. In Jesus name amen
