Services for Miles E. "Pete" May, age 72, of Grayson were held at 2 PM, Wednesday, June 7, 2006 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. C. Barnwell Anderson and Rev. Donald Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery west of Grayson.

Miles Ellis May was born on December 2, 1933 in Clarks to the union of Hollie Edward and Marie Parker May and died Monday, June 5, 2006 at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport after a brief illness.

Pete was a man of many God-given talents. He ran the Piney Woods Forge and was one of the last blacksmiths in the state. He spent hours in his yard and garden. He was a welder and worked for Loper Machine Shop, James Machine Shop, and Ouachita Machine Shop. He was an ordained Baptist minister having pastored Grace Baptist Church and Hebron Baptist Church. He was an active member of Grace Baptist Church.

He retired recently as a school bus driver of the Caldwell Parish Schools. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Jack May and Buster May.

Survivors include his wife of forty-nine years: Lora Anne Shell May of Grayson, his son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Diane May of Grayson, his daughter: Molly May Folds of Terrell, TX, his grandchildren: Lanee' May Cotten and her husband Robert of Columbia, Ashley May and Mallory May of Grayson, Katie Folds and Jonathan Folds of Terrell, TX, his brothers: James "Red" May of Grayson, Douglas "Buzzy" May and his wife Glenda of Columbia and Mike May of Lake Jackson, TX, his sisters: Catherine Kersten and her husband Edward of Brazoria, TX, and Marie Tyler and her husband Joe of Columbia, his brother-in-law: Pete Shell and his wife Avis of Angleton, TX, his sisters-in-law: Frances Walker of Columbia, Lorene Floweree of Brazoria, TX and Mary Ann May of West Monroe and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Robert Cotten, Jarrod Wallace, Art Knighten, Tony Weeks, Henry May, Scooter Wise, Gary Garland, and Matt May.

Honorary pallbearers are Danny McCarty, Henry Evans, and Charles Lutrick.
