East Kingston, NH. David Baker, 81, Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at home, surrounded by his family.
David was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a Medic. A long-standing Haverhill resident, he was an active member of the community serving on the Haverhill City Council for many years. He was a hardworking and dedicated entrepreneur. He started his own construction business building single homes, which he later expanded to nursing homes and apartment complexes. He was also the administrator and owner of nursing homes in Haverhill and Amesbury. In recent years, he was involved in establishing Apple Hill Golf Club in East Kingston, NH
David was truly passionate about horses and harness racing. He trained and raced horses, and was an active member of the horse racing community in both New England and Florida. David showed his love of his faith by acting as president of Temple Emanu-El. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family is what brought him his greatest joy.
David is survived by his loving family, his wife of 57 years, Dorothy, his three children, Sandi and her husband, Stephen Lundquist of East Kingston, NH, daughter, Debbi and her husband, Richard Burston of London, England, and his son Robert Baker and wife, Christine, of Brentwood, NH. He is also survived by his sisters Rhoda Wolpert of Haverhill, Marsha and her husband, Harvey Katz of Haverhill, and brother, Bernard and his wife, Monica, of Hampton, NH. In addition, he is survived by five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday, April 23rd, at 2 pm. at Temple Emanu-El, Haverhill, MA. Interment will follow in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill. Following the burial, friends and family may pay their condolences at the home of Stephen and Sandi Lundquist, East Kingston, NH. Condolence calls can be made at his late residence on Friday, from 2 to 6 pm and Saturday evening. Arrangements by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
