Jay L. Stewart married Joan Gryder on 10 May 1963 at Fort Worth, Texas. The couple moved to Olney in 1977. He was a member and Past President of the Olney Country Club and was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wichita Falls. Jay was the Treasurer for Tower Extrusions, Ltd. for twenty six years until his retirement. He had also been the President of the Ft. Worth Optimist Club, President of Business Services Automated, Accountant of Hertel General Tire in Ft. Worth, Controller of Coachmen Recreational Vehicles, and Operational Manager of Ranch Style Beans.

He married Janie Vansickle on January 16, 2010 in Wichita Falls.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joy Tunstill, and is first wife, Joan Stewart on 18 August 2008.

Survived by his wife, Janie Stewart; one son, Chris Stewart; one daughter, Candace Hayes; one step-son, Michael McAnally; one step-daughter, Michele Kirkwood; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
