Please note that I have not identified the source of Levina's date of birth. It simply comes from old family records. My great grandmother and other relatives did extensive genealogy research prior to my birth, and this date was among those records, but I have not found an official source, so please do not consider the date to be a fact. The date of death can be confirmed in her probate records.
Levina's name can be found spelled many different ways, including Lovina, Lavinia, Lovinia, and Levinia. The spelling that I am using here "Levina", is the way I have seen it spelled most often in written records. The book "Grave Sights of Cabarrus County, Vol. 2", compiled by the Cabarrus County Genealogical Society, lists Mount Olive as the place of burial for Levina. It states that "Lovina" Moose died 19 May 1906 aged about 90 years. Thank you to Patricia Chandler of the Cabarrus County Public Library for locating this information for me.
At this point, no obituary for Levina has been located. However, she has extensive probate records available because a fight between her son Albert Henderson Moose and her estate's executor lead to the case being heard before the North Carolina Supreme Court. Information on Moose v. Crowell can be read in numerous publishings related to North Carolina Supreme Court cases.
Her husband Levi's probate records gives the full names of all five of her sons. The middle names given in those records differ from some of the middle names traditionally tied to her sons in early Moose genealogy research. They are: Henry Harrison, John Wilie, Lawson Jeremiah, Julius Monroe, and Albert Henderson.
