Sally Walker Bitsoie

Sally (Walker) Bitsoie, 46, daughter of Tachii'nii Atsidí and Iszaah Gaih, was born on December 24, 1915 in Lupton, Arizona into Honágháahnii (One Who Walks Around You Clan) and born for Táchii'nii ( Red Running Into the Water Clan). As a girl at about age 3 her biological mother passed away from an international flu. Afterward she was raised by an aunt named Alice who adopted her and a cousin of hers name Harry. Her aunt Alice took her and Harry and moved west to Bodaway, close to Colorado River. And their movement westward included her maternal grandmother Iszaah Naahdezbah (Warrior Lady) who survived from the international flu. In Bodaway, her aunt Alice met Johnny Walker who her adopted her and her cousin Harry. In the year 1936 she married June Bitsoie in Navajo Traditional way, and had nine children, four sons and five daughters. Sally died from kidney failure on January 3, 1962 in Tuba City, Arizona. Her interment took place on January 6, 1962, at Tuba City Community Cemetery in Tuba City. She is survived by her husband June Bitsoie; sons: Tully W., Bennie, Bobby, Lloyd; daughters: Mary, Mae, Betty, Nancy, and Carletta; her adopted parents Alice and Johnny Walker; and cousin Harry Walker who she respected as a brother.
