Tamara Leigh Coats Baldwin, 53, of Glade Hill, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va. She was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1961 in Helena, Ark., a daughter of the late James Franklin Coats and Mary Marzee Chancey Coats. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Bill Chancey.

Tamara was an accomplished mental health nurse practitioner having been given a special gift from God for understanding medicine. She was also a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. O. Monroe Baldwin; her daughters, Kristen A. Green and husband, Adam, of Lynchburg, Va., Jessica Lauren Baldwin, of Glade Hill, Va.; her son, Dylan Taylor Baldwin, of Glade Hill, Va.; her granddaughter, Truelee Marzee Green; her brother, Andy Coats and wife, Evelyn, of Indian Bay, Ark.; and her sister, Janice Spakes and husband, Larry, of Peoria, Ill.

The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Diamond Hill Baptist Church, 3541 Horseshoe Bend Road, Moneta, VA 24121.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church, Moneta, VA with the Rev. Rick Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Diamond Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford, VA, 540-586-3304.
