Andrea Lynne Turner, 33, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 after more than a two and a half year courageous battle against acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).
Andrea, the daughter of Diana (Williams) and Ed Turner was born on September 2, 1981 in Columbia, MO.
She graduated from Hickman High School, Class of 2000. She received her undergraduate degree from William Jewel College in Liberty, MO and her Master’s degree in finance from Avila College in Kansas City, MO. She worked as a supervisor for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
Andrea was an athlete. She excelled in basketball and soccer. During her college soccer years, she also coached a youth soccer team. She loved to travel; from a semester studying in Australia, to road trips to see friends, to family spring trips to the ocean. She will be remembered by many for her skills as an organizer. She organized events at work, family vacations, and parties with her friends. She enjoyed volunteering and taught Sunday School in Overland Park, KS. In her youth she was active with her family at Forum Christian Church. This relationship became the foundation upon which she built her abiding faith in God. It was her faith that gave her the daily strength she needed during “The Fight” with AML. She recently achieved one of her goals of reading the entire Bible.
Andrea is survived by her parents; a sister: Ashley (Tyler) Dow of Olathe, KS; a brother: Alex (Julie) Turner of Springfield, MO; one grandmother: Virginia Williams of Council Bluffs, IA; aunts and uncles: Donna & Gary Rushing of Petersburg, IL; Dana and Dan Jones of Salinas, CA; Dustin and Candi Williams of Queen Creek, AZ; Sue and Gary Bentle of Florence, KY; and several cousins. She is missed deeply by her four legged love: Lily Rae.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Glenn Williams; Jack and Lucille Turner.
Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Forum Christian Church (3900 Forum Blvd., Columbia, MO). Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at Forum Christian Church with Rev. Scott Sutherland and Rev. Max Jennings officiating.
