Katherine Careles was baptized on 21 September 1640 at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire, England, a daughter of Lewis Careles and Katherine Newman.

As a teenager or young woman, she traveled from England to New Netherland, where her grandparents (Thomas Newman and his wife Mary Fage) were living.

She married John Archer on 10 February 1659 at the Church of Saint Nicholas in New Amsterdam, New Netherland (present-day New York, New York, New York).

Her death date is unknown.

She is thought to be buried with her husband in the family plot on Tetard's Hill, located on what once comprised the extensive grounds of the family estate, Fordham Manor.
