Raymond Reid, age 73, closed the gate and went home to Jesus on April 28, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Pat Reid and one sister, Fonda Tumlin. Raymond retired from Jefferson County Roads and Transportation after 33 years and from Jefferson County BOE as a bus driver for Pinson Valley and Mortimer Jordan High Schools after 17 years of service. He served the farming community well as president and secretary/treasurer for the Jefferson County Cattlemen's Association and as lifetime director for the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. He was co-owner of The Hitchin' Post, LLC and served as a deacon at Liberty Baptist Church. Charitable donations may be made in his memory to Alabama Cattlemen's Foundation. Visitation will be held at The New Gardendale Funeral Home on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Liberty Minter Cemetery.
