Lenox, Mass. -- Mr. Samuel R. Ross, 96, of Devonshire Estates, Lenox, MA passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Russia on May 15, 1918, the son of Lewis and Pearl Rasky, he emigrated to Canada where he attended schools before moving to the United States. He graduated St. John's University Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Pharmacy. Mr. Ross was a US Army Lieutenant serving during WWII. During his military career he received several service medals. He worked as a self-employed Pharmacist for many years. He owned and operated Ross Pharmacy in Baldwin, Long Island which was a staple of the local business community. Mr. Ross leaves his wife, Anita, with whom he would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary in July; they were married on July 6, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by his three children; Dr. Charles Ross and his wife, Jane of Pittsfield, Dr. Stephen Ross of Rockville, MD and Dr. Paul Ross of Annandale, VA; a brother, Ed Rasky and his wife, Sonny of West Hills, CA; seven grandchildren; Jenna Romanoff and her husband, Danny, Adam Ross and his wife, Kate, Michael Ross and his wife, Laura, William Van Helden and his wife, Anna, Cheryl Hanley and her husband, Mike, Jacqueline Westermann and her husband, Ray and Patricia Toner and her husband, Robert Nine great-grandchildren; Jacob, Jennifer Just and her husband, Andrew, Christopher, Matthew, Ryan, Kirsten, Samantha, Ashley and Abby-Rose and one great- great-grandchild, Ava FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Samuel R. Ross will take place Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, MA 01001. There are no calling hours. Anyone wishing to attend the funeral should meet inside the cemetery gates at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berkshire Hematology Oncology, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201, in his memory.
