Alice came to Canada from England when she was seven years old, arriving with her family in Quebec City aboard the 'Sicilian' in 1908, where they then caught the train that took them to their homestead in Trochu, Alberta.

She died just shy of her 20th birthday from puerperal fever, a short time after her only child was born.

She met her American born husband, David Felch, in Trochu, where they were married December 9, 1919.

David married Zella Maddox after Alice's death, and continued to live in the Trochu and Huxley area until his death. Alice and David's son, Jack, eventually moved to Washington State, and then Oregon, where he died, after having served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Alice Harriet (Dodd) Felch's obituary, from the 'Trochu Tribune':

Mrs. D Felch Passes to Rest

After a brief illness in the Trochu Hospital, Alice, the beloved wife of David Felch, passed away at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning. The final sad ceremonies were performed on Tuesday afternoon with a service at the Roman Catholic Church followed by a short service at the Cemetery. The deceased young lady was only 19 years of age was the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. Albert Dodd, Trochu and had been married two years. She leaves behind her husband and an infant to mourn her loss. The pall bearers were all members of the family. The immediate family mourners present were Mr David Felch (husband), Mr Albert Dodd (Father) Mrs. Davies (sister) and Mr Davies, Mrs Mace (sister) and Mrs Felch, mother of the widower. Floral wreathes in profusion were visible signs of the esteem in which the deceased was held by the district at large. Nearly 30 automobiles slowly wended their way to the Cemetery to pay their last respects to her whose loving disposition in life had won her a host of friends. Her mother was not present as the blow had been so heavy that it was not considered advisable for her to leave home where she remained under the watchful care of her youngest son, Fred. To all members of the family is extended the deepest sympathy of the community in their grief.
