He was born March 19, 1920 in Draper Section of Eden, North Carolina the son of the late Jesse O. Newton Sr. and Myrtle Cook Newton.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Taze E., Paul J., and Walter E. Newton; a sister: Lucy R. Newton, and a grandson Louis Curry.
Jesse served with the United States Army during World War II and was the oldest of five sons who served in the military.
He was a machine operator for Aloe Brothers until his retirement and a member of Local 1319 UMWA.
Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Betty Crowder Newton and a daughter Judith N. Curry and her husband L. John of Uniontown; two granddaughters: Sarah B. Curry and Hannah C. Ramey; two great grandsons: Isaac L. and Levi A. Curry.
He is also survived by a brother Ray Newton and wife Doris of Chatham, Va.; and four sisters: Ethel N. Murphy, Martinsville, Va., Mary N. Stien, Eden, North Carolina, Gazelle N. Cox, Danville, Va., Frances N. Thompson, Stoneville, North Carolina.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa. where friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. when a memorial celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Dec. 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
