Katherine June Walton Gilkison, 83, of Oakwood passed from this earthly life on Nov. 22, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Homer.
Katy was born Dec. 24, 1930 near Oakwood to Harry and Annabelle Brown Walton, the second of four children. She married Ray on Aug. 27, 1948. Raymond, the love of Katy's life, passed away on Aug. 11, 1995, and she was broken-hearted, deeply missing him for the rest of her life. According to their wishes, they were both cremated so their ashes could be united for eternity.
Surviving are five children, Mary Katherine (Darrell) Dixson, Susan Jeane (Charlie) Thomas, Ramona Ruth (Neal) Chambliss, Raymond Eugene Gilkison II and Timothy Alan Gilkison; a sister, Patricia Englemann; half sister, Bridget Walton; sister-in-law, Frances Sandidge; brothers-in-law, John (Yvetta) Gilkison and Jerald (Alice) Gilkison; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wintress Anne Engelmann; brother, Harry Walton Jr.; half brother, Jack David Walton; stepmother, Frances Foreman. Also preceding Katy in death were Sanford and Mary Gilkison; William Gilkison and Robert Gilkison.
