Carl Calvin George, age 87, of Mckinney, Texas died on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Belterra Health and Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.
Carl George was born on November 19, 1927 in Elm Springs, Arkansas to Henry Lewis and Flora Nannie George.

Carl was one of 9 children; 3 boys and 6 girls. When Carl was 11 years old, his dad, Henry George died with tuberculois.
Carl had an incredible work ethic, a strong commitment to family, a love and a strong devotion to His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! After his dad died, at age 15, he was hauling feed and coal making $.25 an hour. He then went to work driving a truck hauling chickens to Chicago, Illinois to help his brother, William Morris George, to supplement the family income. Carl was also a World War II Veteran and enlisted in the Navy in 1946, after Pearl Harbor was attacked and was stationed in San Diego, California, Hawaii and then to the Navel Base on the island of Guam. Carl was discharged in 1947. After serving his country, he drove a truck for Joe Steel Canning Company in Springdale, Arkansas with his brother, W.M. . Carl was ordained as a Baptist minister on October 31, 1956. He pastored the following churches: East Meadow Baptist Church in Springdale, Arkansas, Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and Baptist Mission, in Joplin, Missouri. In 1958, he moved his family to Baxter Springs, Kansas and began working for Yellow Transit Freight Lines. In December, 1971 he moved his family to Irving, Texas and continued driving for Yellow Freight for 33 years. He retired in 1991 and was awarded “The Two Million Mile” with an outstanding driving record! Carl was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Irving, Texas. During that time he drove the youth group church bus and taught a Sunday School Class on “The Book of Revelation”.
Carl met the love of his life, Pearl Peel, and was married on October 27, 1948. Carl was a loving, devoted husband to Pearl for 67 years and together they raised their eight children, four girls and four boys. He enjoyed singing. He taught his eight children to sing gospel music every Saturday morning around the piano while Pearl (Mama) hummed in the kitchen. That’s when the song “Daddy Sings Bass and Mama Sings Tenor” and the song “Just a Little Talk with Jesus” became the popular hits in the George family.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Flora George; his oldest daughter, Carol Jean Kent, three sisters: Euna Belle Allen, Lois Ball, Florine Easley, and one brother, William Morris George; five brother-in-laws: Harvey Allen, Clifford Ball, Howard Smith, Claude Harvison, Fred Easley, and one sister-in-law, Lorene George.
