Keith Rife passed away peacefully on April 26, 2015 at approximately 12:20pm at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Detroit Avenue in Toledo, Ohio. His health had been declining the past few years and COPD and Congestive Heart Failure finally wore him out at the age of 88.

He was born on March 8, 1927. He grew up in Luckey, Ohio. At age 17 he joined the United States Navy to serve his country during World War II as a Corpsman.

He married the love of his life Marilyn Ruch on July 17, 1948. They moved to Phoenix Arizona where they planned to live. After a few years they chose to return to Ohio to be nearer their family and moved to Toledo in 1950.

Keith eventually got a job working in the mail room at the DeVilbiss Company in 1951. After studying at home and applying himself over the years he became the supervisor of the Salaried Payroll and Pension Department for DeVilbiss. After DeVilbiss was bought out by Champion Spark Plug in 1967 he was transferred there where he worked until he retired. After retirement he worked part time for Society Bank in the Trust Department working on pensions and taxes. He finally retired after a few years to spend more time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, their children Janelle, Steve (Tracy), Grandson Sean, along with many Nieces and Nephews. Also surviving are his sister Virginia, and his brother George. His passing leaves this world with a void that can no longer be filled.

Keith will also be missed by his loyal animal companion Maggie (his dog of 14 years). Keith had a special love for all animals. He passed that on to his family….

He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Nothing mattered more to him than his family.

He was a simple man who taught his family the values of Faith, honesty, trust, love and sincerity. He guided us to these life skills by how he lived his life.

We would like to thank all the people who helped him at the end of his life. All the workers at St. Anne's Hospital, The Franciscan Center, and Hospice of NW Ohio. His final journey was one of peace and love to his eternal home with God the father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The family will receive guests on Monday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., Toledo, with visitation one hour prior in church. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Troy Township Cemetery.

The family would appreciate any donations be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in honor of the memory of Keith Rife.
