Albany Knickerbocker News, August 1, 1945, page 1:

Machinist's Mate (1c) John Peter Nasner, previously listed as missing, after the sinking of the destroyer USS Luce, has been officially declared dead by Navy Department. He was the son of Mrs. Edith Nasner, Selkirk, and the nephew of Miss Edith Ebel and Miss Ethel Ebel, 365 Partidge.

The destroyer was sunk May 4 by a Japanese suicide plane off Okinawa.

A graduate of Bethelehm Central High School, and formerly employed by the Watervliet Arsenal, he had been in service for two years. Surviving besides his mother and aunts are a sister, Mrs. Mary Dingman of Schenectady; two brothers in service, Watertender (2c) Francis Nasner and Seaman (2c) Paul Nasner, and a brother, Robert Nasner, Selkirk.
