JOYCE MARLYN GRIFFITH, age 69, of Centerburg, passed from all earthly cares at Country Court Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, quietly April 28, 2015.
She was born June 30th, 1945 in Lebanon, Virginia to Fred and Virgile (Yates) Jackson. Marlyn and Jack C. Griffith, Jr. were united in marriage November 22, 1969. To this union was born four children. Like the mother’s ring she wore with a jewel for each one, they were each precious jewels to her: Leah (Thomas) Goulter, Jack Griffith III (Carmen Sanchez), Lillian (Darrick) Collins and Stuart (Reannan) Griffith. Nine grandchildren. Like all grandmothers, Marlyn adored them.
Marlyn grew up on a hillside farm in Russell County, Virginia. She was the youngest of seven children. Obrien, Lillian, Jerome and her parents preceded her in death. Alma Wilson, Almerine Jackson and Judy Breeding survive her.
Marlyn’s road in life was hard. She fought mental illness for many years, and it was hard for all that loved her. But not anymore.
Marlyn belonged to Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church for many years. She loved to sing songs of Zion. She loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior.
The family wishes to thank the many kind people that did all they could for her and the family, Dr. Chandravan Patel, hospice, the folks at Country Court Nursing Home and the folks at DeVore Snyder Funeral Home as well as many others. Friends have made this journey much better.
