Funeral services for Arthur J. Toffey, 82, of Chimney Road, were held Saturday, November 28, at 9:15 from the Hickcox Funeral Home, Watertown, to St. John the Evangelist Church, Watertown, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.

Mr. Toffey, husband of Helen (La Condrata) Toffey, died Thursday, November 26, at Cook-Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth. He was born in Watertown, July 24, 1910, son of the late Fredrick and Elizabeth (Roberts) Toffey. He was a lifelong resident of Watertown and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Before his retirement, he worked for New Departure in Bristol. He was a past commander of the Watertown American Legion Post 195 and a past president of the Holy Name Society at St. John the Evangelist Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Watertown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5157. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Clayton Toffey of Watertown, Richard Toffey of Waterbury, and Harold Toffey of Bethlehem; five daughters, Barbara Hurbon, Marie Maynard and Carol Sprano, all of Watertown, Elena Banks of Bethlehem and Beverly Shugrue of Terryville; a brother, Lloyd Toffey of Watertown; two sisters, Thelma Kearns of Falls Village and Pauline Duncan of Virginia; and 13 grandchildren.
