Evelyn Bernice Foulks-Garvin, 88, was born on the Remington family farm, 2/20/1927, the daughter of George Sommers and Delphine (Boudreau) Sommers.
Evelyn graduated from Remington High School in 1945, and on 12/9/1945 she married Victor H. Foulks of Monon, IN. Evelyn and Victor both worked at the furniture factory in Wolcott, before Victor started working on a farm for $1.00 per day.
Soon they moved to a farm northeast of Remington, and on 9/22/1952, their only son, Roger Dean Foulks (Pamela) of Bradenton, Florida was born. In 1958, Evelyn and Victor moved to a farm south of Wolcott where they lived and farmed until Victor's death in 1998. Evelyn worked for several years as a Bookkeeper for Honegers and for the Wolcott Feed Mill.
Evelyn married Richard Garvin, a farmer and U.S. Postmaster from Battleground, IN, and they moved to Monticello, IN. Richard also proceeded Evelyn in death.
While in Remington, Wolcott and Monticello, Evelyn was as active member of the Remington Methodist Church, and the Psi Iota Xi philanthropic organization .
Evelyn over-wintered for several years in Sebring, FL. and in 2013 permanently moved to Bradenton, FL to live at Freedom Village and be close to her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Pamela Foulks, due to failing eyesight.
Evelyn has preceded in death by her parents and a younger sister, Juanita Allen of Remington. Evelyn is survived by a younger sister, Lois Walters of Indianapolis, IN, son Roger (Pamela) Foulks of Bradenton, FL. Evelyn is also survived by 2 granddaughters, Casey (Adam) Zeigler, and Victoria Paige (Daniel) Pittman, all of Indianapolis, and 1 great-grandson, Jaxon Zeigler of Indianapolis.
Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed playing the organ, and of course, cards!
