A resident of Ardmore for the past 25 years, Mr. Dean had previously made his home in Marietta. Before leaving to serve with the U.S. Army during World War II, he married Mary Loletta Clark . . . the mother of his three children and the love of his life. During his military career he served in Germany for two years with the Armored Division guarding the SS soldiers and helped bring concentration camp survivors to safety. In addition he attended the Nuremberg trials.
A successful businessman, Floyd enjoyed working in the oil field industry as owner/operator of Deanβs Vacuum Truck and Welding Service. He was a strong minded man who believed in hard work and taking responsibility for oneβs own actions. He loved his children and being with his family. His son, Harold, was his best buddy. Floyd also enjoyed drinking coffee with friends at the local restaurants. Mr. Dean was a Christian man who accepted Jesus as his savior many years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Holly Thurman; and brother, Leonard Dean.
Survivors include his son, Harold Dean of Greenville, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Wayne Newman of Madill, OK and Marilyn and Dennis Thurman of Marietta; sister, Lola Dear of Greenbrier, AR; six grandchildren, Jason Teafatiller, Jenny Parker, Adam Dean, Eric Dean, Brock Thurman, and Jordan Mathews; and five great-grandchildren, Sierra Parker, Shyanne Parker, Erica Teafatiller, Ruth Ann Dean, and Eli Mathews.
Casket bearers will be Jason Teafatiller, Adam Dean, Eric Dean, Brock Thurman, Kenny Mathews, and Michael Flowers. Honorary bearers are Dr. Neil Nedley, the staff of Lake Country Nursing Center, and the staff of Cross Timbers Hospice.
