Shirley graduated from Shawano High School in 1971 and attended the U.W. Stevens Point. She married on July 24, 1976. Shirley was employed at Country Kitchen in Rhinelander for nearly 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, walking with the dog, and visits to the lake. She was preceded in death by her father, Roland and a brother, Keith Degener.
