John C. Russell, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 27, 2015 and went on to see his Father in heaven. He was 83 years old and was born February 07, 1932. John was a native of Jackson, MS and a longtime resident of Denham Springs, LA. John graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, LA in June of 1951. On September 2, 1951 John was married to his loving wife – Nell Brewer and was married over 61 glorious years until her death on January 30, 2013.
John was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. John made a confession of faith and became a Christian at age 29 years old. He was ordained a deacon in church in 1979 and was also a member of the Gideon's International since 1980. John was a longtime member of Stevendale Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. John retired in 1994 a Petro/Chemical inspector.
John was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Carroll T. Russell, one step- mother Ola Davis Russell, one son, Randy Lamar Russell, and one wife Nell Brewer Russell.
