Rosalie Franklin was born on March 1, 1926, in Bayou Current, Louisiana, to Mary Jane Ashley and Benjamin Scott.
Rosalie transitioned from Glennon Place Nursing Home to another place of rest on April 23, 2015, to be with her Savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Franklin, father, Benjamin Scott, mother, Mary Jane Ashley Jones, son-in-law, Louis Means, brother, Joseph Rosette, grandmother, Rose Ashley, one grandson, Nicholas Williams-Franklin, and a special brother-in-law, Welton Franklin (Ruthie).
Rosalie accepted Christ at an early age, August 18, 1937, in Mavingouin, Louisiana. She loved the Lord and was a Prayer Warrior. She spent most of her early life In Melville, Louisiana and attended school there, graduating in 1943.
After high school, Rosalie met and later married the love of her life, Jerome Franklin, and to this union four children were born. She spent most of her married life in Melville, LA, and Alexandria, LA. After the death of her husband in 1962, she later moved to Kansas City, Missouri.
Rosalie united with Zion Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor A.L. Johnson, Sr. She served on the Senior Mission and Sunday School Departments. She worked for Parliament Oak Apartment Complex, until her health prevented her from working. She lived her life enjoying her children and grandchildren, as well as being able to travel. Her later years were spent at Glennon Place Nursing Facility.
Rosalie Franklin leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Geneva Means of Grandview, MO, A Marie Oakman (Alfred) of Kansas City, KS, Jerome B. Franklin, and Leon Franklin (Trish); one sister, Sedonia Lacy (James) of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren: Jiro K. Means (DeAndra), Jennifer Means, Charlotte Oakman, Rebecca Oakman, Javon L. Franklin, Leon Franklin, Jr., and Nicholas Jordan Franklin; one Goddaughter, Irene Hudson; a special family friend, Helen Collins (Walter) of Monroe Louisiana; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Oakman and Christopher Oakman of Kansas City, KS; and a host other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services for Rosalie Franklin were held on Thursday, April 29, 11:00a.m.at the Lawrence A. Jones and Sons Funeral Chapel.
