Oozzie graduated from Amber-Pocasset High School in 1965. He attended Oklahoma State University and then entered the Oklahoma National Guard. He established a dozer service, and managed the family farm and cattle in Amber. He and his brother Bill established Chickasha Sod & Grass Farm in 1979, from which they retired in 2014.
Oozzie married Irene Elizabeth Kirby in 1969 and they had one daughter and one son.
He married Judy Hart in 2000 in Chickasha, Oklahoma and they had one son.
