ABEL|FREDERICK MARTIN "JOE" Age 90, longtime resident of Green Tree, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Consulate Health Care in Canonsburg. Beloved husband for 63 years of Virginia Edna (Pinto) Abel; loving father to Judy Abel, Joseph Abel; second father to Mary Miller; proud grandfather to Anthony Abel, John Abel; proud second grandfather to Alyssa Miller and "Bubbles"; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine Mantia and Margaret "Peggy" Shuster. He was a parishioner of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, a 40 year employee of Kaufmann's Department Store. He was also a member of the Greentree Post 823 and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in both Japan and Korea. Family and friends welcome Thursday, 6-8 p.m., WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 12 p.m., St. Margaret of Scotland Church. Interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
