Leonard H. Higgins, 86, of South Charleston, WV, passed away on February 14, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House-West in South Charleston, WV surrounded by his loving family.

Leonard was a member of the 1945 graduating class of South Charleston High School and served as President of the student body. He represented South Charleston High School at Boys State. Leonard was a veteran of World War II. He received his undergraduate from Morris Harvey College and went on to graduate from the WVU College of Law. He practiced law for 55 years. Leonard served in the Public Defender's office in Kanawha County and was a member of the WV State Bar Association. Leonard was proud father of four. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. His favorite College football team was WVU. Leonard also loved to hunt; he spent many happy times at Poffenbarger Camp in Pendleton County.

The family has a special place in their hearts for the loving and compassionate staff of the Hubbard Hospice House – West in South Charleston.

Leonard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Georgiana June Higgins; parents, Ray and Ada Higgins; and brother, Marlin R. Higgins. He is survived by his daughter, Sandi L. Hudson (Larry) of St. Albans; sons, Timothy Higgins (Patti), Michael Higgins (Judy), of St. Albans, Mark Higgins of Columbus, OH; sisters-in-law, Sandra L. Crossman (Keri), of Winter Haven, FL, Pat Williams, OK; five grandchildren, Chris Higgins, Jennifer Wingate-Henderson, Andy Higgins, Brian Hudson, Brittany Hudson; ten great grandchildren and a special family friend Kimberly Allen Scarberry.

A Service to Honor the Life of Leonard H. Higgins will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 17, 2014 at Snodgrass Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston, WV. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to HospiceCare 1606 Kanawha Blvd., West, Charleston, WV 25387-2536.
