Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances (Giordano) Carabello.
Anthony graduated from Central Catholic High School. He was a graduate of Kutztown University, and went on to receive his Master's in Education from Temple University.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Anthony taught mathematics at Northeast Junior and Reading Senior High Schools.
He served one term as Reading City Councilman, and five terms as Berks County Commissioner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children. He is also survived by 3 brothers and a sister. Six grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Monday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 4, at 10 a.m., at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 237 Franklin St., Reading, PA 19602. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Anthony J. Carabello to The ALS Association Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002 or Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church at the above address.
