Virginia Ruth Squires Hillis, 66, wife of Richard F. Hillis of 2381 Highway 405, Muncy, Pa., passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at the Muncy Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit in Muncy, Pa. Virginia was born April 26, 1944, in Elmira, N.Y. the daughter of Ruth Goodrich Squires and the late Leo Squires. She was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1963. In early years, Virginia was employed by Sayre Lingerie in Sayre, Pa. She enjoyed caring for children, babysitting and crocheting. She is survived by: her husband, Richard F. Hillis, at home; mother, Ruth Squires of North Towanda; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Stephanie Hillis of Glen Mawr, Pa.; grandchildren, Allan, Christopher and Travis Hillis; sisters, Julie Squires of Bryans Road, Md., and Mary Getz and her husband Robert Getz of Dushore, Pa.; brothers, Paul Squires of Lebanon, Pa., and Richard Squires and his wife Kasha Squires of San Antonio, Texas; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Roseanna N. Allen, on June 23, 2004. A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at the Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Pa., with the Rev. Jean Montgomery, pastor of the North Towanda United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. There are no calling hours.
