Daniel Crossburg Burgoon was born in 1841 in Ohio, the son of Michael Burgoon and Mary Ann Vaugh. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the Civil War (Ohio 54th Infantry Company D.) He mustered out in Aug 1865. December 1865 he married Lucetta J.Golden. Lucetta died January 1869 leaving him and an infant son named John. He and Lucetta also had a daughter named Sarah who died at the age of one month.
Daniel married Lucetta's older sister Sarah Elizabeth in Sept of 1869. Sarah's husband Jonathan Camblin had been killed in the Civil War and she was left with seven young children to raise.
Daniel and Sarah had three sons together, Robert, Gipson and Enoch and a daughter Elizabeth who died at a young age.
Daniel died in Grant Co Indiana. He was paralyzed for six months prior to his death. Burial in Tam Cemetery
