Samuel Oliver Fowler, age 92 of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015 at King's Grant Retirement Community. He was born in Surry County, North Carolina, October 28, 1922, to Charles Robert Fowler and Fannie Fulk Fowler. Sam was a graduate of High Point College (now High Point University) and served in the Navy during WW II. He retired from Mitchell's Auto Supplies, Inc. after 34 years in sales management. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Martinsville, the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club and Jaycees.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Mitchell Fowler; a sister, Julia Fowler Reshoft; and a brother, Dr. William R. Fowler.

He is survived by two daughters, Frances F. Whitener and husband Richard of Indianapolis, Indiana; Julia F. Boynton and husband David of Orange, California; one son, Robert S. Fowler and wife Melody of Richmond, Virginia; a grandson, Stephen F. Fowler and wife Elizabeth and great grandson, Ryan S. Fowler, of Leesburg, Virginia; a brother, Charles F. Fowler and wife Rachel of Shelby, North Carolina; and several nieces and a nephew.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Martinsville, 27 Starling Avenue, Martinsville, VA 24112, or King's Grant Fellowship Fund, 350 King's Way Road, Martinsville, VA 24112.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Fulcher and the Rev. Dr. Dwight Christenbury officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at King's Grant Victory Chapel with a reception to follow.
