Brenda May Mathews, age 65 of Malvern, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 in Little Rock. She was born in Houston, Texas on September 2, 1949 to the late Clyde Thomas Walker and Margaret Campbell Walker. Reared and educated in Dallas, Texas and Colorado, she was the wife of Floyd Mathews, Sr., to whom she was married on March 5, 1967 in Englewood, Colorado. Brenda had a beautiful singing voice, and was a very talented artist. After bringing up her own family, she had a career in floral design and child care.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Mathews of the home, her son, Floyd “Buck” Mathews, Jr. of Michigan, her daughters, Kimberly Edmonds (Clyde) of Glen Rose, Melissa Roscher of Sheridan, and Elisha Kelley of Houston; two brothers, Tommy Walker, Jr., and Michael Wayne Walker, both of Colorado; two sisters, Carolyn Sherrill of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Sandy Cone of Denver, Colorado; eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Her funeral will be Sunday, April 26, 2015, at two o’clock in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service by one hour, beginning at one o’clock. Interment will follow in Fairplay Cemetery.
