Joe G. "Chepe" Amaya, Jr., 71, of McCutchenville, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Birchaven Village in Findlay.

Born September 19, 1943 in Corpus Christi, TX, he was the son of late Jose G. and Margarita (Gonzalez) Amaya, Sr.

On May 20, 1967, he married Juanita A. Barron and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2000.

Surviving are his children: , Richard (Kris) Amaya of Lebanon, OH, Stephanie (Buddy) Danner of Sycamore and Nicholas Amaya of Carey, 4 grandchildren: Kimberly Danner, Courtney and Cassidy Amaya, and Bradlay Cooper, 3 sisters: Delphina (Carlos) Tey and Christina (Jose) Gomez both of Carey, and Juanita Chavana of Upper Sandusky.

Preceding him in death were his grandson, Levi Danner, a brother, Rosendo Amaya and a sister, Celia Herrera.

An U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War,

He farmed for Mott-Buckland Farms near Carey for over 30 years.

He loved to mow lawns, attend flee markets, find deals at garage sales, and listen to Elvis Presley.

After his kidney transplant, he enjoyed visiting the employees at Davita Dialysis Center in Tiffin. He was a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery near Carey, with Rene Gonzalez officiating.

A military graveside service will be conducted by the Carey Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davita Dialysis Center in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St. Carey, OH.
