John (Joannes Stephanus) was born in Metzenseifen, Hungary, now Medzev, Slovakia.

John was married on September 14, 1884, at Gravesend, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, to Aguste M. Dlugasieweiz.

John, along with his brother Stephan, immigrated from Cadiz, Spain to the United States arriving April 5,1879 on board a Ward Line ship. John became a naturalized United States citizen on September 24,1884. His petition stated that he terminated his allegiance to the Emperor of Austria. At this time he lived at 331 East 77th Street, in New York City, and work in a hotel. He returned to Germany shortly afterwards and was married. John returned to the United States in 1887. John spoke seven languages. He manufactured cigars and tobacco in Havana, selling them in New York. He is listed in the 1890 New York City directory as living at 1627 Ave. B. John’s business required him to live in Havana for a year and a half between 1891-1892. His wife and children remained there until 1895. He is listed in the 1900 Federal Census for New York as living in New York Co., New York Twp., New York City, Borough of Manhattan on West 92nd Street, being a cigar manufacturer. His brother Stephan was living with him as was his wife's sister; Bertha Louise Dlugasiewiz (b. April 1873, in Germany; she was single and migrated to the U.S., arriving June 7,1889, on the ship Eider, from Bremen, Germany). In 1906 the family lived at 62nd west 93rd street. He moved his family around 1908 to 94-22 212th Street (Queens Road), Queens Village, Queens Borough, Queens Co., New York City, New York. He is listed in the 1910 Federal Census for New York as living in Queens Co., Queens Borough. His children continued to live at this address after the deaths of John and Stephan, at least into the 1930's. John went into the hotel business becoming the manager of the Latini Department and a special agent for the Astor Hotel. He was also the Vice President of the New York and Cuba Express Company. His duties required him to travel between New York City and Havana, Cuba on a regular yearly basis between 1900 and 1918. His last voyage to Havana was via a United Fruit Line ship leaving New York November 20,1917. He is listed in his passport application as living in New York City uninterrupted, 1879-1917.

John Stephen Repko: born August 12, 1888, in Manhattan, New York City, New York. It's believed that he died circa 1950. In 1920 he was living in Akron, Summit County, Ohio, working as a rubber tire company Mechanical Engineer.
