Patricia Lee-Lloyd, 43, a lifelong Wisconsin resident and the half-sister (they share same mother) of TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003 in her New Berlin, Wisconsin home. Mrs. Lee-Lloyd was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she lived with her mother, Vernita Lee, who worked cleaning homes. Oprah Winfrey lived on and off with the Lee’s and eventually left Milwaukee to live with a man named Vernon Winfrey, the man who has become known as Oprah's father in Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Lee-Lloyd married and had a family. Winfrey made funeral arrangements but was not available for comment, according to a spokeswoman for Harpo Productions. In addition to Winfrey and her mother, Mrs. Lee-Lloyd's survivors include her husband, Kenny J. Lloyd, Sr. and her daughters Alisha Hayes (Tydus) and Chrishaunda Hayes. She was preceded in death by her brother Jeffrey Lee and sister Patricia Amanda Faye Lee more commonly known as Patricia Lofton. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in Holy Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 2677 North 70th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. According to the New York Daily News of February 26, 2003, Patricia Lee-Lloyd was found dead in her New Berlin, Wisconsin apartment on February 19, 2003 by her husband Kenny Lloyd. The cause of death was not initially apparent but the coroner later determined she died of an overdose of Oxycodone.
