Carolyn B. Marshall passed away at her home on Friday, April 24, 2015. Carolyn was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on April 9, 1926, the daughter of the late William A. and Martha P. Broyles. She was a 1944 graduate of Central High School, Chattanooga and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1947 from Fort Sanders Hospital Training School in Knoxville, Tennessee. She married Allen R. Marshall on April 24, 1948 and moved to Charles Town. She became a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where among many other activities she taught the kindergarten class of Sunday School and was active in the United Methodist Women including Circle Chair. In her lifetime she was in a number of community organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary of Jackson Perks Post of the American Legion, a leader of Brownie/Girl Scouts and The Dolly Madison Garden Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Allen R. Marshall on July 5, 1984, her brothers, W. Allen Broyles, Jr., Carter D. Broyles, and H.H. “Bert” Broyles and her sister, Mary Frances Crabbe.

She is survived by two daughters, Gayle Johnson and husband Earl of Avon, North Carolina, and Debbie Bolyard of Charles Town, West Virginia, one son, Greg Marshall and wife Marcia of Manteo, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Noel Marshall Fleet and husband Joel, Megan Bolyard Derrick and husband Nick, Nathaniel Frederick Allen Marshall and J. T. Dollinger; two great grandchildren, Marshall Allen and Grace Anne Derrick; three sisters-in-law, Betty Broyles, Pat Broyles and Virginia Anne Broyles, many nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29 with Pastor Duane Jensen officiating. Visitation will be at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services.

Interment will be at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV
