Rolla Eugene Briggs, 87, of Boise, passed away peacefully at home from natural causes on Thursday, April 23, 2015. Rolla was born on March 2, 1928 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Fergus and Pearle Briggs. He was the fourth of six children. His siblings include Fergus Jr., Margaret, Robert, Jack and Mona.Rolla married the love of his life, Ardis Marie Lowers, on December 31, 1946. For 68 years they enjoyed their many travels, adventures, and working side by side together. He was an active member of the Salmon JC and Rotary Club, Elks Lodge, Masons, Knights of Columbus and his church. He received the "Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award" while living in Salmon. Rolla enjoyed everything that rural Idaho had to offer. One of his many passions was to explore and share with others all of the beauty that the Idaho Wilderness has to offer. He was an avid outdoorsman who experienced and lived his life to the fullest. Both Rolla and his wife, Ardis, spent many years enjoying back country flying. Rolla was a passionate family man. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. One could always count on a big smile and witty response to any question posed to him. Rolla's sense of humor and kindness had a lifelong influence on all who knew him. Rolla truly believed in treating others as you would want to be treated and those surrounded by him couldn't help but be influenced by his words and actions. In his later years, Rolla spent many relaxing days in Yuma AZ, making his wife treat him like the "king of his castle" that he really was. He is survived by his loving wife, Ardis ; four children, Larry, Debra (John), Pamela, and Frieda (Jeff); 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and his sister, Mona. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Fergus Jr., Margaret, Robert, and Jack. We would like to thank Horizon Hospice, specifically Lynn, Kim, and Crystal for the passionate care they provided Rolla. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity your choice. A celebration of life will be held on Father's Day weekend.
