Susan grew up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of Robert and Helen Ten Broeck. She graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in Math. After graduation, she worked as a researcher in the Space Science department of General Electric. On a flight home from a ski trip in Europe, she met Wallace Kendall, who became her husband of 31 years, until his death in 1998.
The couple moved to the Pittsburgh area in 1970, where they raised their children Lucia and Clint. They were active members of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, where Susan served in numerous roles over 44 years, including elder, and volunteered as an assistant to the financial secretary. Susan was active in a local chapter of the women’s organization P.E.O., in which she served several terms as treasurer and in multiple other offices. She was an avid reader who participated in three different book groups at the same time. On election days, she volunteered at the polls. Over the years she was involved with bridge groups, garden club, the Fruit and Flower mission, and a myriad of other social, civic, church, and volunteer organizations. Her many friends remember her kindness and hospitality.
She is survived by her daughter Lucia (Marshall) Lloyd of Tappahannock VA and grandchildren Kendall and Mary; by her son Clint (Kathy) Kendall of Winchester MA and grandchildren Ethan, Reed, and Lauren; and by her brother, Dirck (Cathy) Ten Broeck of Towson MD and nephew David.
A memorial service will be held at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church at 10:00 on Saturday May 2nd. Memorial contributions may be made to Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by a brother Robert Ten Broeck (1945-1946) of Pittsfield MA.
