Eric was the son of George Lawson and Jannie Taylor Lawson. He was educated in the Houston County School System and was a graduate of Perry High School Class of 1976. He received an Associate Degree from Seattle Central Community College in Seattle, Washington. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired as a Staff Sergeant on September 14,1999. During his service career, he received the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Marksman Qualification Badge and Army Commendation Medal.

He was married to Brenda Lawson. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Helen Taylor and Annie Lawson; and 3 brothers: Joe Lewis Taylor, George Lawson and Earl Lawson.

Survivors:
Wife: Brenda Lawson.
1 Daughter: Quotonia Jackson.
2 Sons: Raymond Lawson and Kenneth Felder(Marqurita).
1 Sister: Louise Henry.
6 Brothers: Robert Taylor(Barbara), Charles Taylor, Sydney Lawson(Charlene), Frank Allen, Robert Lawson(Vanessa) and Wallace Lawson(Glenda).
9 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, April 27,2015 at 3pm in the Sanctuary of Temple New Life Worship Center in Perry, Georgia with Elder John Simpson III officiating.
