Viola "Vi" Mae Jordan, 87, of Sandusky, died Friday afternoon, June 26, 2009, at the Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief illness.

She was born at home December 01, 1921, in Ogden Center, Michigan to Edith (Caswell) and Rollie Pifer. On May 25, 1946, she married Willard J. Jordan of Sylvania, Ohio.

Viola was a member of The Columbus Avenue Methodist Church, Sandusky. She was a 1939 graduate of Metamora High School Metamora, Ohio. She served briefly in the United States Navy during WWII. She was Office Manager for Louis Jordan Clothiers in Downtown Toledo. She also worked for Franklin Ice Cream, National Family Opinion, Aetna Life & Casualty, in Toledo, before moving to Sandusky in 1966. She was Administrator of Salaried Benefits Program for New Departure-Hyatt Bearings, Division of General Motors Corporation, retiring in 1978.

A beloved sister, wife, mother and grandmother, Viola will be sadly missed by her son, Jodie Jordan of Sandusky; grandchildren, Jeffrey A.(Kimberly) Jordan of Middletown, New York, Navy Petty Officer Second Class Phillip A. Jordan, Yokosuka, Japan; sister, Margaret Myers, Metamora, Ohio. Viola was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Willard J. Jordan; infant daughter, Julie; her parents; brothers, Franklin and Dale L. Pifer; nephews, Rollie Myers and Harold Bell.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 1:00 p.m. at Wolfinger Cemetery, Secor Metropark, in Richfield Township, Ohio: 10,001 W. Central Avenue (six miles west of US 23/I-475), Berkey (Entrances on W. Central Avenue and Bancroft Street). Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
