From the Longmont, Colo. newspaper, June 1972:
"Gayle L. Stevens of 1250 Lincoln St. died Monday, June 12, at Longmont United Hospital following an illness of several months. He was 57. Born on June 15, 1914 in Fremont, Neb., he lived most of his life in Kearney, Nebraska, where he attended schools and graduated from high school. He married the former Margaret Ann Ludden in Kearney on Sept. 27, 1942, and served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Following his discharge from the service, he farmed in Nebraska until 1956 when he and his wife moved to Longmont. Mr. Stevens was employed at Sundstrand Aviation Corp. in Denver. He was a member of B.P.O.E. No. 1055 in Longmont.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife; a brother, Clinton J. Stevens of Kearney; and a sister Mrs. Gladys Metcalf of Axtell, Neb.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lewellen chapel with the Rev. Stanley Goerner officiating. Other services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Adams-Swanson Mortuary in North Platte, Neb., with burial to follow in North Platte.
Contributions may be made to the Cancer Fund, in care of Lewellen Funeral Home."
