Dena Nichole Jones, 43, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2015, at home. She was born on July 31, 1971, the daughter of Vondell Sherman Jones and Barbara Jean (Lingo) Jones.

Dena graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with honors. She was a captain of the flag corp in high school and played flute and piano. She attended Purdue University and graduated with an Associate's degree in Aeronautical Technology and a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering and Genetics. She received her Master's of Science in Industrial Engineering from Western Michigan University. Dena worked for Kellogg's as a Global Engineer and had recently received her ten year service award.

Dena is survived by her Mother; Brother, Danté (Nikki) Jones; Niece, Aubree Jones; Aunt, Brigitte Lingo-Hogue, and Uncle, Charles (Pamela) Perry; Cousins, Tarita Darden, John Lingo, Sonja (Jason) Randall, Courtney Johnson, Jeanee Darden, Antonio Darden, Bianca Hogue, and many more. Also surviving are special friends, Joi Dozier, Juan and Tammy Trevino, Goddaughter, Sophia Trevino; family friends, Herb and Linda Brizendine, Michael and Kathy St. John, Michael C. St. John, and the Schiesser and Richardson families; and special family, Julie Yawger, Nicole Caldwell, and Ashlee Jankowski; and beloved cat, Koty.

She was preceded in death by her Father; Maternal and Paternal Grandparents; Aunt, Beverly Perry and Uncle, Ted Lingo.

Dena really enjoyed playing chess and the card game, Magic. She acquired her love of Sci-Fi from her father. She was a wonderful woman with a heart of gold. She was passionate about encouraging girls into the math and science fields, particularly those from her alma mater, Battle Creek Central. Dena was a world traveler and she had been to many places, beginning with 15-20 cities while in "Communist" U.S.S.R. in summer 1988, as well as Italy, Mexico, Switzerland, and of course to family all over California, Louisiana, and Georgia.

Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeffery Davis of Overflow Church officiating. Interment will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial tributes may be made to: American Heart Association , Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan.
